SwimFin makes a splash in Colorado...
Posted 7 days ago

SwimFin creator Kev Moseley recently attended the Annual Symposium of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance in Colorado Springs, USA.

This important annual event brings leading organisations, including USA Swimming and the YMCA together to discuss the latest news and advancements in the prevention of drowning. (approximately seven thousand people die every year from accidental drowning in the United States alone.)

Kevin presented SwimFin to a captive audience and was well received.

"The NDPA welcomes SwimFin as a cool new swimming aid which is hoped will teach children how to regulate thier behaviour in and around water. If we can all work together to prevent the unnecessary loss of life through drowning by teaching children to swim at an early age whilst using a piece of equipment they want to wear then this can only be a positive development. "

Kevin also had the pleasure of meeting Madison Kennedy, a 22 year old member of the U.S. national swim team and Olympic hopeful for 2012 as well as meeting 1984 3 time Olympic gold medalist Ambrose "Rowdy" Gains.

SwimFin sponsors a shark...
Posted Dec 2010

... a rugby playing Shark no less. Swimfin is pleased to announce that we are an official sponsor of rugby league centre, Iain Thornley, of the Sale Sharks. Iain signed for the Sharks in July of 2010 and though still a teenager, is one of the most promising young stars in the sport.

Iain has played for the England Academy and was being chased by a number of other clubs. The Sharks director of rugby, Mike Brewer had this to say about their new signing:

"Iain is one of the hottest young properties in both codes of rugby. He has chosen to move to rugby union although he was a member of (rugby league) Wigan's first team squad and was attracting interest from Australian league sides. He is a big lad in peak condition who has pace, great handling skills and is very strong defensively"

SwimFin is proud to be able to support a young player with so much potential and wishes Iain all the best for the season.

SwimFin goes to Vegas...
Posted Oct 2010

SwimFin creator and managing director Kevin Moseley travelled to Las Vegas, USA for a week of conferences and meetings to promote the SwimFin brand. At the top of his agenda was the 22nd annual U.S. Swim School Association National Conference. There he was able to meet with instructors and coaches who already use SwimFin as well as introducing new people to this revolutionary product.

The feedback from those who bought a SwimFin or two to try out last year was, as expected, extremely positive. Kevin has even received positive feedback from people who bought SwinFins just days ago. Here is an e-mail from the director of Swimbabes in Portland, Oregon:

Hi Kev,
We met in Las Vegas at the US Swim School Association Conference a few days ago. I bought one of your SwimFins to try out and WE LOVE IT! We would like to purchase more. The design is fantastic,
Thank you.

Kelley Robinson, Swimbabes, Portland, OR

Kevin also met with distributors and potential business partners to discuss the marketing and development of the SwimFin brand in the USA, one of the largest and most important markets in the world. It was a busy but productive week for 'Mr. SwimFin.' He plans to attend the US Swim School Conference next year which will take place in Orlando, Florida.

SwimFin sponsored charity event cancelled
Posted Sept 2010

Event bosses were forced to cancel the Great North Swim in Cumbria after blue-green algae was found in the water of Lake Windermere.

The Environment Agency found the algae, which can cause sickness or skin rashes, in the lake just days before the event was due to take place. After a summer of temperatures and hours of sunshine higher than is typical for the Lake district, the amount of blue-green algae was found to be above safe levels.

Event organisers had hoped to re-schedule the race for later this year. A spokesman said safety was a top priority: "We realise that the cancellation has affected many people, but the safety of swimmers has to be our top priority at all times."

In spite of the event being cancelled, many participants were in attendance and there was almost a party atmosphere at Lake Windermere. A videographer from BBC Cumbria was there to interview one of the organisers, Lousie Attwood who expressed the feelings of everyine there when she said she was devastated that the Great North Swim would not be able to take place and that she hoped it could be re-scheduled.

It is unclear whether the Great North Swim will take place again next year, but SwimFin hopes to be involved again if and when the event goes ahead in 2011.
