What is the youngest age SwimFin is suitable for?
Swimfin was designed for typical 3-year-olds and older but we've received plenty of feedback from parents and teachers telling us about 2-year-olds that have used SwimFin. The record for the youngest
child who was able to use SwimFin unaided is fifteen months.
Does SwimFin come with an instruction manual?
NO! An explanation can be found on the How SwimFim Works page. We strongly recommend that a parent or teacher assist a child in the early stages until he/she is comfortable with SwimFin. Once they are accustomed to the bouancy they will know instinctively what to do and that's when the freedom and the fun start. Some kids pick this up instantly but younger children and the less confident may take a little longer. There are no rules on how to use SwimFin: there should be a natural progression until the child lets you know when to let go. SwimFin works with all ages and abilities but the way it works for one child of a particular age and ability can be totally different for a child of a different age & ability.
How should SwimFin be fitted?
Ideally, the higher up the back the better. If worn too low it may tip the user forward. As a guide line we suggest the top strap fits across the nipple area.
Can SwimFin be worn on the chest?
No, No. Definitely NO. Doing this makes returning to a standing or upright position difficult for the little swimmers.
The straps are too big, is there anything that can be done?
Pinch the hoop part of the Velcro together, i.e., shorten the length of the strap. Then attach it to the hook part of the Velcro as usual.
Do the straps come supplied?
Yes, every SwimFin comes with a standard size set of straps, which fit the average child.
The straps are too small, is there anything that can be done?
Since more and more bigger kids and adults are using SwimFin we now manufacture larger straps which are available to buy on this website.
Are replacement straps available?
The standard and large replacement straps are available on line. Each set comes in black with colour coordinated logo.
